Inaugural WA Communication Culture and Media symposium

ANZCA was very proud to support the inaugural West Australian Communication Culture and Media (WACCM) symposium at Curtin University on Friday 13th February. The event was a huge success, attended by almost 60 West Australian scholars and organisers were thrilled to see such excitement among our postgrads, confirming to us all the significant research that continues to emerge out of WA.

Michele Willson hosted and coordinated this symposium, which has been jointly convened by Debbie Rodan (ECU), Rob Cover (UWA) and Terence Lee (Murdoch).  This was followed by the more than 30 postgraduates from Curtin,  UWA, ECU and Murdoch presenting on their research in three different streams, each chaired by Debbie, Rob and Terence. The main panel event: “The Future Directions Panel” with Prof John Hartley, Prof Lelia Green, Assoc Prof Ingrid Richardson and Prof Philip Mead was both provocative and engaging – we thank these fabulous scholars for giving up their time for this important event.

ANZCA will be sponsoring a number of events like WACCM this year, so make sure you keep an eye on your ANZCA mailing list for more information about how to join in. Three more WACCM events are scheduled over the next 12 months (June 2015 at UWA, November 2015 at ECU and Feb 2016 at Murdoch), so keep your eye out for more information on the ANZCA mailing list.
